11 times I failed at being a vegan
Right before summer I converted to a (guess the critics will ask that I say "mostly" after this post) vegan diet.
The story begins with a broken mirror from West Elm.
Instead of heading back home after discovering my brand new mirror was cracked upon arrival at the store, I took to the streets of downtown Santa Monica and out-of-the-blue a PETA volunteer handed me a vegan cookbook. I didn't need much convincing after skimming the pages from cover-to-cover. By the next morning I rid my fridge of any meat and dairy. Then I went shopping. I'd like to say the rest is history but this kind of change is not easy.
As you'll see below, here are the 11 times being vegan was well, let's just say, an inconvenience.
11. Jonathan & Rosalind's lovely wedding reception at Public.
10. My first visit to Leona.
9. My second visit to Leona.
8. My third visit to Leona.
7. The NYC Public School Sandwich at Scopa.
6. All You Can Eat Chicken at A-Frame.
5. The burger at A-Frame.
4. Some incredible tapas at this spot in Philadelphia.
3. A lobster roll at Knuckle & Claw.
2. Tuna tartare, swordfish tacos, churros and burrata (in one day, not one sitting) at the LACMA and an office party.
1. Two cheesesteaks. One from Geno's Steak and another from Pat's King of Steaks next door (in one sitting.)
Change is good (and hard).
