Over/under 8-3-16 (Radiohead edition)
Ah, Radiohead tomorrow. I will attempt to see the band 3 times in 2016- twice in LA and again at Austin City Limits. So this week's Over/under is a Radiohead takeover.
(Disclosure: My comments are not directed at the band or a critique of their music.)
Karma Police, overrated. This tune just doesn’t do it for me anymore. That’s all I got. Go ahead, stop reading.
Subterranean Homesick Alien, underrated. Jump to 2:31 for the latter half of verse 2 and tell me you don't feel like being abducted by aliens might actually be pretty cool.
15 Step, overrated. Except when performed live because Thom dances.
Amazing Sounds of Orgy, underrated. This imagery: "When sorry is not good enough/ sit in the back while no one drives". And this: "I want to see you smile again/ Like diamonds in the dust".
Street Spirit, overrated. I am embarrassed to say that I created some really bad fan art inspired by this song (above).
Codex, underrated. Jump to 3:34 to hear the strings, horns and piano come together for a crescendo.
Paranoid Android, overrated. You're welcome to download my short story, Release. Read it to this song. Then, tell me my writing there sucks too. Be as Petty Wop as you wish.
The Gloaming, underrated. Incredible mix of rhythm, bass, and vocals.
Idioteque, overrated. Because I said so.
In Limbo, underrated. The song is so hypnotic.
